Tiktoker Wished Mahama Died In The Helicopter Crash

The Ghana Police Service has arrested popular TikToker Fante Comedy following a controversial live broadcast in which participants mocked victims of the recent military helicopter crash and made inflammatory remarks against political figures.

The livestream, which went viral on social media, featured individuals making derogatory comments about the deceased and expressing wishes that National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi and former President John Dramani Mahama had died in the crash.

During the session, a woman identified as Akosua Jollof allegedly issued threats. She was also arrested by police for questioning.

According to a police statement dated August 12, 2025, investigators are probing the video for threats made against the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, and the First Lady.

“So far, two people, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, are in police custody assisting with the ongoing investigation, while efforts are underway to get other persons believed to be connected to the video to assist with the investigation,” the statement said.

Police confirmed that other individuals believed to be accomplices are currently on the run, with a manhunt underway to track them down.

The arrests come in the wake of public outrage over the comments made during the livestream, which coincided with national mourning for the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.
