Accra, Ghana – 14 August 2025 – Hundreds gathered at the Christ the King Church in Accra on Thursday evening for a solemn mass vigil in honour of the late Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala.

Among the mourners were Dr Boamah’s children — Ama, Akua, and Yaw — whose presence drew emotional reactions from attendees and Ghanaians online, with many offering words of comfort.
The event was attended by leading political and public figures, including Communications Minister Sam George, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama Joyce Bawa Mogtari, GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi, and Assin South MP Reverend John Ntim Fordjour.
Also present were NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi, and Interior Minister Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka.
The vigil formed part of nationwide tributes to Dr Boamah and Squadron Leader Anala, who died in a helicopter crash near Obuasi earlier this month.
