The head of the Mantse Ankrah Royal Family, Nii Okanta Ankrah II, has called for greater efforts to promote the Ga and Dangme languages across the Greater Accra Region. Speaking at a durbar held after the performance of the traditional Kpekple sprinkling rite, he stressed the importance of unity and urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, to prioritize indigenous language education in schools.

Nii Okanta Ankrah II performed the Kpekple sprinkling rite within the Kaneshie community and at the Mantse Ankrah royal cemetery. The rite, deeply rooted in Ga tradition, is performed to honor the ancestors who defended the rights of the Ga-Dangme people in the past.

The durbar drew a host of dignitaries, including the Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi Bonte II; Otublohum Mantse, Nii Dodoo Nsaki; and NDC chairman Hon. Asiedu Nketia, among others.
