Kamaldeen Sulemana ends goal grought, vows more goals for Black Stars

Black Stars winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has pledged to add more goals to his tally for the national team after finally opening his account in international football.

The 22-year-old netted his debut goal for the Black Stars during their emphatic win over the Central African Republic in the penultimate fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, played in Meknes, Morocco.

Sulemana, who plays for Italian Serie A side Atalanta, ended a long wait for his first international goal—scoring in his 23rd appearance for Ghana since making his debut in 2020. The winger found the back of the net with a simple finish from close range after a well-placed assist from Joseph Paintsil.

Introduced in the 76th minute to replace Leicester City forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Sulemana made an immediate impact, sealing the win and marking a major personal milestone.

The former Stade Rennais and FC Nordsjælland star expressed his delight after the game, highlighting the importance of finally getting off the mark for the national team.

“Alhamdulillah. I appreciate [Joseph] Paintsil very much he set me that ball. I have been waiting for so long… and this is my first goal; it means a lot to me. Insha Allah more to come,” Kamaldeen Sulemana said.

Ghana will wrap up their World Cup qualifying campaign on Sunday when they host Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium.
