A joint Police–Military team has launched a dawn operation in Dadwen, in the Ashanti Region, to arrest suspects believed to be behind the November 6 attack on members of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) task force and accompanying journalists.
The raid, which took place early Wednesday morning (November 12, 2025), forms part of a coordinated nationwide operation by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the Ghana Police Service to bring the perpetrators to justice — a move promised by President Mahama following the violent incident.
TV3’s William Evans-Nkum, who was embedded with the security team, reported that the exercise involved intelligence-led swoops, screenings, and targeted arrests aimed at flushing out those directly involved in the attack.
According to a joint statement issued by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, the ongoing operations extend to Dadwen and Anwona in the Ashanti Region, Ehi in the Volta Region, and several towns in the Ahafo Region, including Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani.
The statement warned that any attempt to obstruct the security services in their anti-illegal mining or other lawful duties will be met with the full force of the law.
Residents have been assured of their safety and urged to remain calm.
The Armed Forces and Police have also commended the media, civil society, and the public for their condemnation of the recent attacks and for their continued support in the national fight against illegal mining.
