Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration Service visits injured officer in Tempane attack

The Deputy Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service in charge of Command Posts and Operations, Laud Ofori Afriffa, has arrived in the Upper East Region to support ongoing investigations and boost the morale of officers following the recent shooting of two immigration officers in Tempane, which led to the death of one.

DCG/Ops Ofori Afriffa is accompanied by the General Officer Commanding the Northern Command of the Ghana Army, Brigadier General Worlanyo Agbeobo, as part of a high-level security delegation to the area.

Upon arrival, the Deputy Comptroller-General and his team visited the Upper East Regional Hospital, where they interacted with the surviving immigration officer who sustained injuries during the attack.

DCG/Ops Ofori Afriffa and General Agbeobo commended the medical team for their swift response and assured the wounded officer of the Service’s full support during his recovery.

The delegation is currently proceeding to Tempane, where the tragic shooting incident occurred, to engage with local security personnel, assess the situation on the ground, and reinforce operational measures aimed at ensuring the safety of officers serving along Ghana’s northern borders.

The Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Police Service have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with assurances that every effort will be made to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent similar incidents from happening again.
