The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has approved a planned shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant for routine maintenance from August 16 to August 30, 2025.

The Ghana National Gas Company Ltd. (Ghana Gas), which operates the facility, says the downtime will be used for critical inspections, repairs, and system upgrades aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring long-term operational reliability.
The Ministry noted that the maintenance is part of government’s strategy to safeguard and sustain key national energy infrastructure. To mitigate any impact on electricity supply, it is coordinating with major power producers to deploy alternative fuel sources throughout the period.

Authorities say these measures should maintain stable power generation nationwide during the shutdown. The Ministry has also pledged regular public updates on the progress of the works, reaffirming its commitment to reliable and secure energy delivery.
