GAF recruitment resumes November 20 with 8 new screening centres in Greater Accra

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the resumption of the suspended 2025/2026 recruitment screening exercise for potential recruits in the Greater Accra Region.

The exercise, which was halted last week following a tragic stampede, will officially recommence on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

The GAF is implementing significant changes to ensure a safer and more seamless process moving forward, including the creation of multiple screening sub-centres across five locations.

New Screening Structure and Locations

To manage crowd density and streamline the exercise, the screening will now be conducted across eight sub-centres within five designated military locations:

  1. El-Wak Stadium (2 Centres)
  2. Nicholson Park, Burma Camp (2 Centres)
  3. Air Force Base, Burma Camp
  4. Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Teshie (2 Centres)
  5. Eastern Naval Command, Tema

Qualified applicants are instructed to strictly adhere to the new procedures. Applicants will be processed in batches of 600 persons, and each will receive an SMS specifying their reporting dates, batches, and designated centres. Applicants are also encouraged to check the recruitment portal for further updates.

Any qualified applicant who does not receive a text message by Thursday, November 20, 2025, should contact the designated helpline on Mobile Number 0256405104 or WhatsApp on 0256405154 for assistance. Verification is also available on the recruitment portal.

The GAF further cautioned that families and friends are not to accompany potential recruits to the screening centres to reduce congestion, and non-applicants will be denied entry to any of the locations.

Investigation and Compensation

Meanwhile, in the wake of the stampede, the GAF has also confirmed that a Board of Inquiry set up to investigate the circumstances leading to the incident is in progress. To ensure a fair and transparent investigation, the entire Greater Accra Recruitment team has been replaced. New Directors have been appointed to oversee key departments, including Commodore FA Nyarko as Director General Human Resource. The GAF assures the public that anyone found culpable will be sanctioned accordingly.

The Ghana Armed Forces expressed deep regret over the unfortunate incident, extending its deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

All injured recruits will continue to receive free medical services at the 37 Military Hospital until they recover.
