The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has informed the new Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, to report all land and chieftaincy disputes to him personally.

Asantehene also charged the new Ashanti Regional Police Commander, to remain resolute and not yield to intimidation from individuals who may attempt to use his name to influence police duties.
Otumfuo made this statement when the outgoing Regional Commander, COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, led a delegation of senior officers to introduce his successor at the Manhyia Palace on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
He urged the new Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Akoto to independently verify any messages or instructions purportedly coming from him, stressing that he does not communicate through third parties.
The Asante King stressed on the importance of professionalism, discipline, and fairness in maintaining peace and order across the region.
DCOP Akoto assumes office following the reassignment of COP Teye-Cudjoe to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) at the national headquarters in Accra after his promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police.
The Asantehene commended COP Teye-Cudjoe for his dedication and service to the region and extended his goodwill to the new commander as he takes up the responsibility of ensuring public safety in the Ashanti Region.
The delegation included CP/Mr. Francis Kouame Somian, Deputy Regional Commander; Chief Superintendent Frederick Hammond, the Manhyia Divisional Commander; and DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police PRO.
